Read about this series.
I have never liked working plein air with an easel and a large canvas or paper - fighting wind, sun and bugs. However, when I discovered working small with folded pieces of paper I was hooked. My focus is on the drawing which I love and which requires that I slow down and experience what I am seeing. It is the guarantee I will remember the feeling of a place I have visited. These books begin as plein air drawings in ink on small folded pieces of paper and develop as the paper unfolds and I select bits and pieces of the area around the location. After the drawing, I add watercolor and watercolor pencil on site and later assemble the books with a unique cover in my studio.
